Application of high temperature heat pump in waste heat recovery of air compressor

Air compressors are widely used in industrial production and generate a lot of waste heat during operation. The principle is that after electrical energy is converted into mechanical energy, the molecular motion intensifies during the air compression process, causing the air temperature to rise, thereby generating waste heat. This waste heat has the characteristics of high temperature (usually between 80℃ – 150℃) and stable flow. However, for a long time, most companies have ignored this potential energy resource, resulting in energy waste and possible adverse effects on the environment.

High-temperature heat pump recovery
The emergence of high-temperature heat pump technology has brought new hope for air compressor waste heat recovery. This technology based on the reverse Carnot cycle principle can extract heat from low-temperature heat sources (such as air compressor waste heat) and raise it to a higher temperature through the coordinated work of components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators and throttling devices to meet different application requirements. It has the advantages of high efficiency and energy saving, strong temperature raising ability and relatively low requirements for heat sources. It can use a variety of low-temperature heat sources, including air, water, soil, etc.

Application Case
An industrial enterprise has multiple air compressors. During the production process, the waste heat generated by the air compressor has not been effectively utilized. This not only requires the company to consume a large amount of natural gas every month for heating water to meet the needs of workshop cleaning facilities and employee shower facilities, resulting in high energy costs, but also pollutants such as carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide generated by natural gas combustion have also had a certain impact on the environment.

Application effect
For example, if the monthly natural gas consumption of a production enterprise is about 5,000 cubic meters, the cost is about 15,000 yuan. After adopting the system, the monthly natural gas consumption can be reduced by 1,500-2,000 cubic meters, and the cost is reduced by 4,500-6,000 yuan. At the same time, although the high-temperature heat pump system consumes a certain amount of electricity per month, the overall energy cost is still greatly reduced, and the energy cost can be saved by about (4,500-6,000) × 12 = 54,000-72,000 yuan per year.

Environmental improvement: With the reduction of energy consumption, the impact of enterprises on the environment has also been significantly improved. The emission of pollutants generated by the combustion of natural gas has been greatly reduced, which has significantly improved the friendliness of the environment and meets the requirements of green production of modern enterprises.
