Application of high temperature heat pump in seahorse breeding

As a small fish near land and shallow sea, seahorse not only has ornamental value, but also has high medicinal value. Its effect in Chinese traditional medicine is irreplaceable and it is known as “ginseng in the sea”.

In recent years, the market demand for seahorse has continued to grow, and the annual demand has exceeded 500 tons. At present, the price of Pacific seahorse is 11,500 yuan per kilogram, while that of three-spot seahorse is 14,000 yuan per kilogram.

However, due to factors such as overfishing and environmental pollution, the global wild seahorse resources have been decreasing or even exhausted. Since 2004, my country has listed all species of seahorse as national second-class protected animals, and wild fishing and trading are strictly prohibited. Wild resources have been banned from use, affecting the production of many important Chinese patent medicines. Therefore, breeding seahorses has become the key to solving the problem.

Behind the surge in market demand, seahorse breeding is not simple. Seahorses are sensitive to environmental changes, and any slight environmental changes may affect their survival status. Farmers need to accurately control water temperature, water quality, bait, light and density to ensure the healthy growth of seahorses.

Temperature requirements
Seahorses have certain requirements for water temperature, and the water temperature should be kept within an appropriate range to avoid excessive temperature fluctuations that affect the growth and health of seahorses. “Temperature is the key to breeding seahorses. It needs to be stably controlled at 18°C, and the temperature fluctuation cannot exceed 1°C,” said the person in charge of a seahorse breeding base in Jiangsu. “This requires temperature control equipment to operate 24 hours a day, cooling the water in summer and heating the water in winter to keep the water temperature within an appropriate range.”

Application Cases
A seahorse aquaculture base in Hainan has 15 seahorse aquaculture workshops with a total aquaculture area of 1,000 square meters. Due to its large scale, there are many electrical equipment in the workshops, such as aerators, submersible pumps, and blowers, and the overall power consumption is high throughout the year.

Solution
Take 1000m³ aquaculture water as an example. According to the water exchange aquaculture method, the water temperature in winter is 14℃ and needs to be heated to 18℃.

The total heat required is: 1000(18-14)1.163=4652kw.

According to the above operation comparison, the daily cost savings are 2402.4-619.8=1782.6 yuan, and the annual operation savings (calculated based on 200 days of operation) are 200*1182.6=236520 yuan. It is estimated that the equipment cost will be recovered in two years.
